LGB Lends A Hand To Build A Playground
Long Beach children who play at the Fairfiled YMCA on Atlantic are reaping the rewards of a brand new playground. Jet Blue and KaBoom!, a national nonprofit organization, teamed up in Long Beach to build the distinctive new playground.
Local children designed the play area when they participated in a Design Day event to come up with a concept of their dream playground. "It's perfect! The kids wanted a tree house feel and a monorail. The play area just hit all the key areas and it is so neat to see it all come to fruition," said Katie Tarlecky, YMCA Branch Executive Director.
Long Beach Airport (LGB), of course, stepped up to lend a hand in February. LGB Employees picked up shovels, drills, and paint brushes to build the playground in one working day.
"A safe and fun place for kids is worthwhile for the whole community, which is why the Long Beach Airport decided to participate," said Kerry Gerot, LGB Public Affairs Director.
